After working with Wuhao on their digital marketing last year, I’ve had this soft spot for independent stores that highlight Chinese culture rather than just cover it up or replicate glossy Western counterparts. The gloss makes it all shiny, but to create something precious for China itself, while keeping up with the development of the modern market here, it’s also important to retain some of the tradition. Plus, the glossiness always wears off.

Camouflaged goo-goo eye sunglasses. I really like the layout of the pieces – it just brings out so much more out of the products that if they had just been laid out flat like an army about to attack your purse. To be interpreted literally or metaphorically.
some casually-clashy sandals that seem to say ‘color block eat your heart out!’
record player that seems to be louis vuitton at first sight, but notice the ‘SM’ variation in the logo. everytime i go back to Beijing I always notice these little changes that turn a ‘fake’ into a caricature.
Noah’s ark! Though it does seem to be quite sizest – notice how the elephant and turtle (not to mention that weirdly square mustard sheep) are discriminated against and at the back? $%^&*

A bit of an angle fail, but there is a golden beetle in the glass cube! ingenious and oh so Jurassic Park.
Some captures from the We Bandits Pop-up store this weekend at Nestroyplatz, where designs were simple and artsy, and the whole atmosphere smelt of cheeky creativeness. There was even a dress made of dead grasshoppers. Nom nom. only joking.
